Mulangi kootu(Radish daal)

Ingredients::

Toor daal::2 cups

Mulangi::2 cups of pieces

Tamarind:: small lemon size( soak in little water for 15 minutes

Urad daal:: 1 tablespoon

Black pepper corns::1 teaspoon

Cumin seeds::1 and half teaspoon

Mustard seeds::1 teaspoon

Red chillies::2

Coconut::1 tablespoon dedicated coconut

Curry leaves::5 to 6 leaves

Coriander leaves::1/4 cup

Oil ::1 tablespoon

Procedure::

Wash and cut the mulangi into 1 inch pieces. Wash the toor daal and add mulangi and add 3 cups of water and cook in pressure cooker for thre whistles .In a pan dry fry urad daal , black pepper, 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds, red chillies , coconut until golden brown. Now grind this along with tamarind into a smooth paste.Once the daal is cooked mix this paste and add water if needed to make into a pouring consistency.Now heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, curry leaves and let the seeds splatter then add the tempering to the kootu and let it cook for few minutes . Now add coriander leaves and enjoy.

Good with roti and rice.
