Masala Vada (South Indian Tea time snack)

Ingredients::

Chana daal 2 cups

Urad dal 1 cup

Moong dal 1/2 cup

Green chillies 4

Medium size red onions 2

Cilantro 1 cup ( cut into small pieces)

Mint and curry leaves 1/4 cup cut into small pieces ( optional)

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

Salt to tast

Oil for frying(1/2 liter)

Procedure

Soak all daals in different cups for one hour.Grind Chana daal and urad daal into coarse paste.Drain moon daal and mix it in this dough. Now add salt, turmeric, small pieces of onions, green chillies,coriander.Mix well.

Now in deep frying pan add 1/2 liter of oil and heat it.Test the oil by putting a small ball of dough , it should float to the top.once the oil reaches desired temperature make small balls of dough and flatten it on ziplock cover and put it in the oil. The gas should be in medium heat. Fry till the dough becomes golden brown.Remove it on a paper towel for the excess oil to drain from the fritters.

Enjoy with any chutney or ketchup.Good for two days outside and will last in fridge for a week.
